Happy National Health Center Week!
Last week, GPH celebrated National Health Center Week (NHCW), alongside 1,400 Community Health Centers nationwide. Sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), the 2026 NHCW theme is Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most. Each day of the week, we celebrated our patients, staff members, and GPH’s commitment to advancing the health of our community.
Health centers like ours provide affordable, effective, comprehensive primary care to 52 million people across the country — or 1 in 7 Americans — while saving the U.S. health care system billions of dollars a year by keeping patients healthy and out of hospitals.
Health Condition Focus Day
To celebrate Health Condition Focus day, GPH brought merchandise and goodies to patients receiving care outside of Commonspace's Portland Peer Community Center in downtown Portland, where our community health workers and providers park the mobile medical van every Wednesday. Our partnership with Commonspace allows our community members seeking recovery services to also access essential healthcare services, HIV/HEP C testing, drug safety kits, and connections to community resources.

Celebrating Our History
Did you know? Our 295 Park Avenue location was originally a Portland Fire Station from 1903 to 1966! The building began a new chapter when Greater Portland Health acquired it in 2022. From protecting our community to promoting its health, this building has always been a place of service.
Population Focus Day
To celebrate Population Focus Day, staff at our Bayside location distributed bags filled with sunscreen, hydration packets, SPF lip balm, body wipes, and other items to keep our patients safe in last week’s extreme heat. GPH is dedicated to supporting all of our patients, especially those who might need an extra hand.

To celebrate our incredible patients, GPH staff members brought snacks and water to each one of our health centers. We never take for granted the privilege of being entrusted with our patients’ health and wellbeing.

To celebrate our 204 wonderful employees, GPH hosted a picnic at King Middle School. With lunch, a shaved ice truck, cool drinks, and games galore, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect, and celebrate our hardworking, mission-driven team.
