Giving Tuesday reminds us that when we come together, we change lives. Your support helps Greater Portland Health continue to open its doors to everyone, ensuring that healthcare is affordable, accessible, and approachable. Here’s a story that shows what your generosity makes possible:
“The services and activities of GPH prove to us the veracity of their mission to provide [high-quality patient-centered healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and contributes to a healthier community.’] With that, I would like to say a few words about the GPH organization.
It may seem simple for those who did not know that GPH opens its doors for everyone, but it is important to bear witness that we who approached them, who benefited from their services, we are today leading a good life, healthy life with GPH's support and the fastest, safest and most guaranteed services we've ever had.” - GPH Patient
Your gift today ensures that stories like this continue. Every donation helps us keep our doors open to everyone—providing care that is high-quality, affordable, and respectful. Join us in making a difference this Giving Tuesday.
Greater Portland Health provides care to everyone—regardless of insurance status. Due to rising healthcare costs, reductions in Medicaid coverage, and expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies, thousands of our community members will soon lose their insurance coverage. Your donation to the Healthy Community Fund helps us continue to support and expand healthcare access.
Greater Portland Health hosted a roundtable discussion with community members, Representative Chellie Pingree, and Governor Janet Mills to discuss the impact on Mainers if Affordable Care Act tax credits expire.
Last week, consumers and insurance brokers spoke about how Mainers will be impacted if ACA tax credits expire at the end of the year. Community members are seeing drastic increases in their expected health insurance costs for 2026, with some seeing up to 800 percent increases.
Chief Executive Officer, Ann Tucker, spoke about impacts on federally qualified health centers and hospital systems, sharing that as community members are unable to afford medical insurance or pay out of pocket, the amount of uncompensated care will rise across health systems, resulting in financial strain. GPH will continue to care for our patients regardless of the medical insurance choices they have to make due to the expense.
Arts in Healthcare!
In November, our Arts in Healthcare showcased the artistic talents of our patients, staff, and partners, highlighting the healing power of the arts in healthcare. Through this event, we raised over $5,000 in support of our Sunshine Fund, which helps patients with purchasing prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and basic necessities such as socks or a meal. Check out the photos from this inspiring event.
